In case you didn’t know, I am the oldest of 6 children. Yeah.
So you can probably imagine how it feels to watch all of my siblings growing up and graduating high school. It makes me feel super freakin old, even though I’m only 23. My 21 year old sister is a hair stylist, my 20 year old sister has 2 kids, my 17 year old sisters both graduate next year, and my 16 year old brother will graduate in 3 years. There are a lot of graduations, weddings, babies, etc in the foreseeable future.
One of my 17 year old sisters came up to Minnesota this summer to do a photography internship because she was exploring the idea of starting her own photography business. She has since decided that this is a great hobby for her, but not something she wants to turn into a full-fledged career. Fair enough.
While she was here though, I figured this would be a great opportunity to capture her senior photos for her. When we started talking about this idea, I could see the excitement in her. We started talking about locations and she settled on St Anthony Main for her senior session because it’s classic Minneapolis. And for someone who doesn’t get to visit often, it just made sense to do the touristy thing and go for the most popular photoshoot location in the twin cities.
I truly do love St Anthony Main though. I believe it’s one of the most versatile locations in the cities. People used to tell me that the light sucks for photos there but I don’t think that’s true. Of course, I love playing around with light & seeing how I can elevate a session by exploring the light. So that’s what I did. And you guys!!!!! UGH!! These photos could not have turned out any better than they did. I am so amazed at what we were able to do.
Obviously on a Saturday, St Anthony Main was PACKED but we made it work and got some truly beautiful senior photos for my sister. And the session was so much fun!!! I haven’t done a senior session in a long time, but these were so much fun to take + edit that I might just start doing senior photos again soon.
