Okay, I have a confession. I have never been to Saint Paul (at least not until this engagement session). I’ve only ever been to Minneapolis, and I know that some people will argue that they’re basically the same thing and that the cities go together. But that’s like saying “oh you’ve been to Dallas, so you’ve been to Fort Worth.” LOL nope.
Little did I know, downtown St Paul is adorable! We decided on the Landmark Center in St Paul for this engagement session because there is a cute little park right across the street. Plus the Landmark Center is just beautiful, in and of itself. The fountain outside the Landmark Center is just adorable; add in the trees lining the sidewalks, and it’s like a Nicholas Sparks novel. The Landmark Center is probably one of my most favorite locations I’ve ever captured if I’m being honest.
And to top it off, I had the sweetest couple!! Rachel wanted to honor her heritage and wore a beautiful saree; I don’t usually swoon for red but WOW she made it look amazing! I’m pretty sure that Rachel was giggling the whole time and all I could think was, “how much more in love could these two be?” Doug isn’t much of a photo man, but I’d say we had a pretty good time walking around downtown.
After we’d finished up at the Landmark Center, we headed over to the legendary “rock of Minneapolis” for a new outfit and a change in scenery. And still, these two managed to laugh the entire time. I loved their energy and I just know they’re going to have such a beautiful elopement in Colorado.
Everything about this session was so perfect and just lifted my weary heart. I’d been exhausted from the week leading up to this shoot and I left my house just not feeling like it was a very good day. Ten minutes with Rachel and Doug and I was restored. I think we all walked away full of love and laughter, and that’s probably my favorite part of what I do. I swear I have the BEST clients in the entire world.
If you’re ever in Minneapolis, I urge you to take a detour and check out the historic Landmark Center in St Paul. It is absolutely worth it and views of the river are just a couple blocks away.
